My favorite artists

Imagen
Next, I will present to you two artists who are great references to me. They work (among other things) with the emotion of clothing, the textile element as a means that invites us to reflect, that is one of the things I admire most of these two women. The materialization of an idea, a story that is told with the exact elements and that can be understood for everyone. Lucia Cuba, Peruvian designer.  of his works, my favorite is  "Article 6" project shows what happened in Peru between 1996 and 2000, during the presidency of Alberto Fujimori, regarding the public policies of the birth control programs, in which numerous womens were forced  to be sterilized in the central Andean zones of Peru. Doris Salcedo is a Colombian artist, his works are based on evidencing the pain of the people who are broken by the absence of the loved one, the margins of the wound left by the one who is no longer there. For each pair of shoes, one person died.

An unexpected concert

I remember that in 2007 I was studying photography, it was a normal day I left the institue and I went to print some pictures for a job, I saw a poster in the street and I found out that there was a concert by Fito Paez at the theater Caupolican. As I was walking with my camera it occurred to me to go and try to enter by posing as a photojournalist. When I arrived, I took out my camera and went in with the journalists. Nobody realized that I did not have a credential. I enjoyed the concert so much that I became unaware of the time and when I realized it was very late, I ran out to take the locomotion and get to Estacion Central as fast as possible. When I arrived at the station, the last bus was already gone, so I got on the bus to take me as close as possible to Melipilla. I had lost my cell phone a while ago and had no way of communicating, it only occurred to me to ask the driver if he knew any police station and then I get off in there. I asked the phone to a police man and c...

If I had to choose a country to visit, I would choose Laos

If I had to choose a country to visit, I would choose Laos. It is the farthest place I woul    d like to go.   How does this idea come about? Well, the last year I attended a textile meeting in Cuzco,Peru. In that place I met many weavers from all over the world, women who carried ancestral traditions related to textile art. Of all the techniques that I was able to know,   one of the most delicate and beautiful of all was, clearly, the spinning of cotton and the art of silk weaving.   I was very impressed by the dedication and patience of these women, the love of the textile trade, weaving was their way of living and connecting with the world. In the province of Luang Prabang there are approximately 3000 weavers and the people I met lived in a village called Ban Nayang, village who belongs at that province.     They met several times a week and shared their experiences, sorrows and joys around a loom. I do not r...
